What features are included in Goodnotes for Schools?

What’s included:

  • Personal note-taking
  • PDF annotation & document management
  • Basic presenting and whiteboard capabilities

Unlike the personal version of Goodnotes:

  • It’s free- You can create/import unlimited notebooks
  • You can enable and disable different features, like iCloud and AI features
  • In-app purchases can’t be made (including all of Marketplace)

What’s not included:

  • Advanced presenting and whiteboard capabilities
  • Feedback and assessment features
  • Document distribution to class functionalities
  • AI grading assistance

Unfortunately Goodnotes for schools is unavailable for Android and Windows at the moment.

Does Goodnotes process data from your notes for AI handwriting?

No. Handwriting is often very personal and could be uniquely identifiable. Therefore, Goodnotes 6 is built to protect users’ privacy. AI handwriting features like Spell Check and Word Complete that are based on our proprietary ML model are run entirely on device. In other words, the data is not sent anywhere, and no one - including Goodnotes - can access it.

Is Goodnotes compatible with third-party styluses like Logitech Crayon?

On Apple devices, the following styluses are supported:

  • Apple Pencil 1st generation
  • Apple Pencil 2nd generation
  • Logitech Crayon
  • All non-Bluetooth capacitive styluses

Goodnotes for schools

This is the same app as Goodnotes 6, except if you’re enrolled in Apple School Manager, you can use it for free.

Goodnotes Classroom

This is our platform built specifically for teachers. As well as all the features of Goodnotes 6, Goodnotes Classroom has features for sharing feedback and assessments, distributing documents easily, and AI grading assistance. Learn more about it here.
